When it comes to bang for buck, Portugal still delivers. This comes from the Douro, famous for Port but increasingly for still reds. The wine is also called ' A River Runs Through It' but winemakers rarely consider how difficult it is to fit all a wine's title onto a menu or a website... this is a plush blend of Touriga Franca 35% Tinta Barroca 35% Tinta Roriz 30% (aka Tempranillo). It's not seen oak and is a medium-bodied wine, but it still has a touch of opulence. Low in tannin, it has a crunchy berry note which adds uplift. This is the wine to have with duck, pheasant or partridge - or a three-bird roast.
