Soave Classico 2021, Montetondo, Italy
Forget cheap Soave from the 1990s - this is so delish - stonefruity without being heavy
Once upon a time, before Pinot Grigio and Gavi became the go-to Italian whites, Soave was a favourite choice for vino bianco. But now it’s having a bit of a revival - at good quality independent wine merchants at least!
Made from the Garganega grape, this captivated us at the get-go. Luxy yet mineral, it’s also juicy and mouthwatering. We’d be quite happy sipping it on its own, but think it would be great with richer seafood dishes like salmon en croute, or fish in a lemon butter sauce, seafood risotto, linguine with prawns.
Owned by the Magnabosco family, the winery is currently undergoing organic conversion. The grapes for this wine are hand picked and natural yeasts are used to vinify the wine.
