Rosé 2020, Oxney Organic Estate, England
A pure and delicate rosé, which reminds us of picking redcurrants and wild strawberries. We stayed in a Shepherd's hut in the vineyard in September 2020, which the grapes were still on the vines - so we feel we mights have had a small influence over the quality... Joking aside, there is some very assured winemaking here in a vintage that saw great quality fruit but lower yields for many winemakers.
This year, the Oxney rosé is 70% Pinot Menuier and 30% Pinot Noir.
Refreshing to sip on its own, it shimmies and sizzles with food from poached salmon to a Thai beef salad with some mezze in between. We've drunk it alongside some pork and sage sausages.
