Description

The economic outlook may not be looking pretty.

And we can't pretend a little box of six great value wines will solve the cost-of-living crisis.

But hopefully this mixed case of our weeknight wonders at a special price will help you support your local independent wine shop without breaking the bank.

RED

Ciello Rosso Nero D’Avola 2020, Sicily

Rustic,  plummy red with a touch of liquorice and spice. From organic vineyards in the hills above Alcamo in Western Sicily. Perfect for a tomato-based pasta supper and great with an Indian curry.

Te Quiero Red Field Blend 2019, Spain
A brambly, mouth-filling blend of Tempranillo, Syrah and Bobal from La Mancha. Super easy to drink. Goes well with tapas and great conversation.

Felicette Grenache Noir 2020, France
Aka astrocats, cats in spacesuits and all the other names conjured up by having cats on the label. But the wine inside is good. Like a Côtes du Rhône, but a touch softer and fruitier. From the Languedoc.

WHITE

Mezzogiorno Fiano 2021, Italy
A vibrant, cheering Fiano from Puglia that’s total sunshine in a glass. It makes a terrific house white and is brilliant with pizza - even the spicy ones.

Mont Rocher Viognier Vieilles Vignes 2020, France
Probably one of the best value wines in the shop because the grapes come from old Languedoc bush vines - which usually means a higher price tag. Viognier can lack acidity, but this has some zip to it. All in all, a neat little drink that only needs crisps and nuts.

Good Hope Chenin Blanc Bush Vine, 2021, South Africa
A lively, honest, aromatic, lightly creamy Chenin from Stellenbosch with of green apple and white peach. Nice to sip with sushi, goat’s cheese or a crisp salad but nice with fragrantly-spiced food, too.
