La Nave 2018, MacRobert and Canals, Spain
REDUCED FROM £16.95 TO MAKE WAY FOR NEW WINE
If you are looking for a smooth, rich, vanilla-toned Rioja, this is NOT for you. But if you like fresher reds with a bit of crunch (like a Beaujolais), then read on... This is reminiscent of the Rioja wine local vineyard workers would have drunk many moons ago to slake their thirst rather than contemplate all the nuances in a crystal glass. It's a a blend of Tempranillo, Garnacha and Mazuelo (which you might also know as Carignan) and there's no oak treatment. From our favourite South African making wine in Rioja, Bryan MacRobert, who brings his Swartland knowledge to this hallowed region.
