Bardolino Chiaretto 2018, Monte del Frà, Italy
Pale and dry - from near Lake Garda; lovely with salumi, cin cin!
While most people know Valpolicella and Amarone (which the winery also makes), the Corvina and Rondinella grapes also make this delightful, light red from the east side of Lake Garda, not far from Verona.
Bardolino is the sort of wine to produce when friends profess to preferring red but want to eat fish.
We think it’s probably better with food - like many northern Italian wines - because of the acidity. But Pinot-lovers may like it on its own, just lightly chilled.
