Laventura Malvasia 2019, MacRobert & Canals, Spain

Old vine, dry farmed Malvasia grapes from Rioja Alavesa at the hands of Bryan MacRobert are a wonderful thing. Fewer than one thousand bottles are made. Slowly fermented in oval cement tanks for a year, it has a light golden hue and notes of quince, honeysuckle, hay and salted almonds. It's lovely now, but will fill out a bit the longer you keep it.
